Girls
Advocacy Toolkit
The Girls
Advocacy Toolkit is the first step in our efforts to impart the skills,
confidence, and enthusiasm girls need to make their voices heard. The Girls
Advocacy Toolkit, which is a first of its kind, strength-based curriculum specifically
designed to build advocacy skills for girls and young women. Designed to provide girls
(over the course of seven group meetings that build upon each other) with the skills
necessary to recognize and use their voices, the Toolkit is a comprehensive
curriculum including a Facilitators Guide and a Girls Workbook. With seven
chapters complete with exercises, resource pages, and inspiring stories of Oregon girls,
the Toolkit takes young women on a journey of self-discovery, highlighting various
advocacy realms, and presenting myriad means of achieving their goals, dreams, and
desires.
Narrated
by a fictional fifteen-year old girl named Angela, the Workbook is accessible and fun.
Angela encourages readers to be strong, be bold, be resourcefuland most
importantly, be yourself! She explains that, Girls are making change all the
time, all over the world. Maybe you are one of those girlsalready advocating for
yourself, or maybe you have always wanted to make some changes in your life but have never
quite known how to do it. Maybe you are somewhere in the middle. But one thing is certain:
Wherever youve been, wherever you are, wherever you wanna go, this book is for
you.
If you think the Toolkit
may also be for you and the girls you work with, for more information about this project,
